President Hichilema Urges Economic Cohesion Amid Global Uncertainty
President Hakainde Hichilema has called for stronger partnerships between government and investment partners despite global uncertainty triggered by the ongoing USA–Israel conflict with Iran.
Speaking at State House today when a delegation from Citibank Group paid a courtesy call, President Hichilema commended Zambia’s financial sector for working hand-in-hand with government to drive economic growth.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining economic reforms and growth as the nation heads to the polls on August 13, urging stakeholders to remain steadfast in safeguarding recent gains.
The President highlighted reforms that have stabilised the foreign exchange market and improved interest rates, pledging to continue building resilience in the economy.
Citibank Zambia CEO Lowani Chibesakunda noted rising investor interest in Zambia following the country’s debt restructuring. She said the bank is supporting the investment climate through capital inflows and mechanisms designed to de-risk projects.
