President Hichilema tours the Copperbelt

Writing earlier today, the President shared his experiences in the Copperbelt with the nation,

“We toured the Copperbelt University in Kitwe today, and held meetings with stakeholders, including student bodies, to appreciate the various challenges the institution is experiencing.

We visited numerous incomplete infrastructure projects such as student hostels and lecture rooms whose construction were halted due to lack of finances. We implored the University to work closely with the Ministry of Education and other collaborators like the Local Authorities and Cooperating Partners to ensure that these projects are completed in the shortest possible time.

We told the stakeholders that education had moved from being a social sector afterthought to being our greatest investment because it is the best equaliser we have.

We applauded the various business initiatives the University was intending to venture into in order to be self-sufficient and we advised that they prioritise areas that would attain maximum benefits to the University Community and other peripheral communities in the District.

Finally we thanked the University students for giving us such a thunderous welcome.”
