President Hichilema has addressed the ‘Transforming Education Summit’ at the United Nations today, Monday the 19th September.
Speaking at the ‘Leaders’ Roundtable’ event, the President stressed the need to elevate education to the top of the global agenda and shared the steps Zambia has taken to make education free and accessible to all.
Further, the President stated that an educated population was essential for economic development. He noted that young people should be kept in school and supported to develop their skills in any areas where they showed talent.
The Government of the Republic of Zambia is currently providing training to over 3200 teachers in digital literacy and has recruited over 30,000 new teachers in the past six months.
